Compact cameras are not always something you can criticize. Sony RX1R II is worth admiring, it is a perfect example of a compact camera and fits well in a coats pocket. You may think it is a brand new addition to the Sony family but it’s not it is a follow up model of Sony RX 1 with some added features such as a pop up view finder along with low pass filter that you can also switch off when you don’t need it.
The price of this compact camera is a bit over the top so before you finalize your purchase make sure you are well aware of all the features it offers. Leica has always been expensive and this compact camera is only 300$ cheaper.
SONY RX1R II – DESIGN:
The style and design of this compact camera is similar to its predecessor and may not come as a shock for you if you have already seen Sony RX100 IV. Sony RX1R II is crafted with brilliance, and looks petite and wonderful whatsoever. It is equipped with a massive sensor and it also has a feel that just won’t let you put the camera down. Sony RX1R II camera is a bit different from the previous model in a way that it is induced with a bigger electronic viewfinder.
Sony RX1R II has an extremely well made tech seen and the EVF comes out instead of the flash and it maybe compact but also has an incredible EVF. The dot resolution and 0.74x magnification is amazing and impressive. This compact camera is incorporated with a sensor that switches between EVF and rear display and it switches automatically when your face gets close to the camera.
The EVF of Sony RX1R II induces a sense of relationship with the camera. The screen also tilts up and down too instead of being fixed to one side. The lens of Sony RX1R II is a plus as it is a great lens for street photography, it is a lot better than your mainstream smart phone cameras. The maximum aperture this compact camera allows is f/2. The lens is a fixed apparatus, well that might put you off.
Sony RX1 R II: IMAGE QUALITY:
Sony RX1 R II takes pictures that might need some cropping. The 42megapixel sensor has been enhanced from 24-megapixel present in RX1. The increase in resolution can cause a considerable amount of change in the ISO sensitivity too. The new thing about Sony RX1 R II is the fact that it has optical with low pass filter it reduces the noise but also reduces image quality. The liquid crystal layer of this compact camera is used in replacement of OLP array. The low pass filter can be turned off via settings, moreover there is a bracketing mode in this compact camera too.
Focusing speed of Sony RX R II has drastically improved as compared to the previous model, this camera is equipped with a hybrid AF system employing 399 phase detection that occupy 45 percent of depth of field. One negative aspect that we found was about the video making factor, the video quality is not so impressive.
This compact Sony RX1R II camera is definitely in our list as it is equipped with a full frame sensor and employed with an extremely portable body. It has the capability to become any photographers wish, predominantly this camera digs up some smart functions from the previous model along with some of its own feature making it a good choice for people who are looking for a compact camera.
